2015 Results Overview;

 

Game 10 at Brampton Heath;

The match was won with 42 points by Clayton Hall off a handicap of 14 (6 under par net). 2nd was taken by Mark Walker with a score of 41 points with 3rd place being taken by Justin Hamilton with 38 points.

The roll over 2's money of £54 was not won, so will roll over to the texas scramble at Kilworth Springs. Longest Drive at 6th was taken once again by 'usual suspect' Justin Hamilton!

However, the final match produced the most thrilling and closely fought championship finale the Coombe Golf Socity has ever seen. With Dave Sanders leading Mark Walker by 2 points going onto the 18th tee, Dave Sanders's ball found its way into the most unlikely position of resting on top of a lost ball in the rough. After a few more shots, Dave unfortuantely failed to score, leaving Mark Walker to grap the championship by 1 point by making a par for 3 points! Congratulations to the 2015 Coombe Golf Society Champion: Mark Walker!!

 

Game 9 at Bromsgrove;

The match was won with an impressive 43 points by none other than Tony 'Horny' Hawkins off a handicap of 24 (7 under par net). 2nd was taken by Dave Sanders who did his Championship push no harm by scoring 40 points and 3rd place by another Championship challenger Nick Argyle scoring 40 points also, losing out on countback.

The 2's money of £24 was not won, so will roll over to the final macth at Bramption Heath. Longest Drive at 18th was taken once more by 'usual suspect' Justin Hamilton!

 

Game 8 at Hollywood;

The match was won by Mark Walker who scored 40 points off a handicap of 13 (4 under par net). 2nd was taken by Clayton Hall scoring 38 points and 3rd place by Justin Hamilton with 37 points.

The 2's money of £27 was chared by 6 differnet players; Paul Oliver, Nick Argyle, Mick Lowe and Rob Nutt all on the 12th, Kevin Bennett on 5th and Justin Hamilton on 13th. Longest Drive at 11th was won by Neil Edwards.

 

Game 7 at Ross-on-Wye;

The match was won by Bill Shield with 44 points off a handicap of 17 (8 under par net). 2nd was taken by Malc Sanders scoring 42 points with Kenny Owen declaring a score of 41 points to claim 3rd place on countback from Eddie Barnacle in 4th. The 5th place was also taken with a score of 40 points by Justin Hamilton.

The 2's money of £28 was taken by Kevin bennett on 7th. Longest Drive at 6th was won by Nick Argyle.

2 guests attended and provided a box of Golf Balls each for 'Best Stableford Scores on Par 5 holes', which was won by Dave Harris with 10 points (1 birdie and 2 pars) and for 'Best Gross Scores on Par 3 Holes', which was shared by Bill Shield and Justin Hamilton (3x pars each).

 

Game 6 at Swindon;

The match was won by Kevin Bennett with 43 points off a handicap of 17 (7 under par net). 2nd was taken by Robert Nutt scoring a consequetive 39 points with Bill Shield scoring 36 points to claim 3rd place.

One Eagle was hit by Mick Lowe on the 10th, but too many Birdies to mention! The 2's money of £52 was shared amongst 3 players, Robert Nutt at 4th & 17th, Dave Waring at 17th and Andy Roberts at 9th &17th. Longest Drive at 12th was won by Clayton Hall.

 

Game 5 at The Vale;

The match was won by 2012 Champion Clayton Hall with 40 points off a handicap of 15 (4 under par net) pushing Neil Edwards on countback into 2nd place. 3rd was taken by Robert nutt scoring 39 who also took his place on countback with Dave Sanders finishing 4th.

Quite a few Birdies were hit, but nothing on the Par 3's, so the 2's money of £25 rolls over the the next game. Longest Drive was won by Justin Hamilton.

 

Game 4 at Tadmarton Heath (Captains Day);

The match and the Captains Day Trophy was won by Andy Roberts who's 42 points off a handicap of 13 (6 under par net) just pipped Mick Lowe on the same score on countback. 3rd place was taken by Malk Walker scoring 40.

Many Birdies were recorded throughout the day with Kevin Bennett (3rd) and Nigel Bennett (7th) both hitting a 2 to take an equal share of the roll over kitty of £56. Longest Drive was won by Mark Walker.

 

Game 3 at Rutland Water;

With 3 games played we have our 3rd different winner, with Malc Sanders scoring 35 points off a handicap of 25 on a course which was difficult to play with high winds and fast sloping greens. 2nd place was taken by Kenny Owen and 3rd by Nick Argyle, who both shot 34 points but seprated by countback.

No 2's were recorded, so this prize money will roll over to the next game. Longest drive was won at the 13th by Nigel Bennet, who also becomes the first person to reach over £100 won in Prize Money this year!

2 very uncharacteristic low scores were posted, 14 and 17 points by players who have both previously won Captains Day!!

 

Game 2 at Cleeve Hill;

The match was won by Mick Lowe who hit 37 (declared) points off a handicap of 14 (2 under par net). 2nd place was taken by Steve Lee, who has now had his previous 2 penalty points for winning at Glen Gorse integrated into his handicap. 3rd place went to Andy Roberts scoring 35.

Other notable achievements were 4 hole in 2's achieved, 2 by Nigel Bennett (6th & 10th) and 1 each by Steve Lee (16th) and Kenny Owen (6th) & the longest longest drive by Craig Cameron at 9th!

 

Game 1 at Glen Gorse;

The match was won by Steve Lee who hit an impressive 40 points off a handicap of 16 (4 under par net). 2nd and 3rd places were taken by Paul Oliver scoring 35 and Malc Sanders scoring 34 (c/b) respectively (3 other players also scored 34 but losing out on countback; Nick Argyle, Kevin Bennett and Dave Sanders).

Other notable achievements was an eagle 3 at the Par 5 12th by Craig Smith, a monster drive over 300yds by Andy Roberts at the same hole and a 2 at the 4th Par 3 by Dave Harris to win the roll over pot of £60!
